Concordia University students give back to community

About 150 students from Concordia University spent Sunday giving back to the community by volunteering for a clean-up of Gallup Park. They picked up trash, ridded the park of invasive species and even took to the water in canoes to collect trash that was along the river bank.

I would like to thank the students of Concordia University for giving back to the city of Ann Arbor in the best way possible! This is truly the way to rid our river bed of invasive species. Not to burn everything, but to pull out the buckthorn (with gloves) and saws by hand. This way, you will not make the soil alkaline and our wild flowers will flourish. Thank you so much for donating your time and physical labor to keep our park land GREEN and beautiful.

Pulling and cutting the buckthorn was exactly what they were doing, (with gloves) along with picking up lots and lots of trash and chipping paths. A wonderful group of students, who by the way, had to get up for the first day of classes today after their efforts.
